Brian Head Ski Area, Utah

Skied Brian Head for three days (Jan 24, 25 & 26).  Got in 75 runs. I had never skied Brian Head before so it was all new to me.  Biggest surprise was that it wasn’t that big.  I skied the whole mountain in one day.  Basically the place is a good beginner/intermediate area.  I skied many of their advanced runs and most should be classified as intermediate.  Their expert runs are outside the ski area boundary – which made no sense to me.  They even have warning sign (see below) that death is possible on those runs.

So will I come back?  Yes.  It is a nice area.  It does need more high speed lifts.

Brian Head is made up of two peaks; Navajo Peak and Brian Head Peak.  Lifts don’t reach to the top of Brain Head Peak, just to the top of Giant Steps mountain.

There are two lodges; An old lodge at the Giant Steps with little inside seating and a new lodge at Navajo.

The first day started overcast and the top of the Giant Steps area was in the clouds	By noon the first day we had bluebird skies and you can see the entire Brian Head Peak.

My favorite view was from the top of the Dunes Lift to the west.   This area was the least crowded on the Giant Steps Mountain	I was surprised at the number of Elan skis on the slope.  On the third day I found that they rent Elan skis
