Aerosol Spread
New Recommendation is always wear a mask inside or is it?
So the last 48 hours at the CDC have been interesting
The CDC website was updated over the weekend to state that recent studies show that COVID19 aerosols can spread in the air beyond 6 feet inside. It is recommended to always wearing a mask inside. This was not surprising as it matched recent studies in Europe that also include the observation that the COVID19 aerosols can stay in still indoor air for up to 3 hours. Some of the studies state that air purifiers can remove COVID19 from the air. When you are outside, 6 ft is still the recommended distance.
Then on Monday, the guidance was pulled by CDC upper management. The top positions at the CDC are political appointments. So is this posting an error or an attempt by the scientists at the CDC to get useful information out?
Fortunately, once something is on the internet it never goes away. So you can read the removed guidance in a link in the article below.
Here’s an article about this.
CDC acknowledges the risk of coronavirus aerosols in new guidelines, then reverses course
So my 2 cents is always wear a mask inside.
